The CARES pre-planning Loan provides support of up to £150,000 for projects to take forward plans for renewable energy generation schemes for communities and rural businesses in Scotland. You can read more about the community loan here and the rural business loan here.
We accept applications as part of a rolling programme - contact firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more and to access help from your local Development Officer.
The updated application and guidance notes are below. Failure to contact your Local Energy Scotland Development Officer before submitting an application may affect our ability to support your application.
To reflect the Scottish Government’s aspirations outlined in the Community Energy Policy Statement and Good Practice for community benefit and shared ownership, all CARES applications must now have a degree of community ownership. There is additional grant support available for rural businesses, housing associations, local authorities and third sector organisations to help with preparing and promoting a shared ownership offer.
