Shared Ownership Opportunities: Support from Local Energy Scotland

There is a range of new support available from Local Energy Scotland to developers and communities considering shared ownership of a renewable energy scheme. In addition there is a survey to hear your thoughts about this support and what more could be developed in future.

Resources and support for community involvement in commercial projects

Local Energy Scotland offers support for community groups to engage with renewable energy through the Scottish Government’s Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES).

Following publication of the Scottish Government’s “Good Practice Principles for Community Benefits from Onshore Renewable Energy Developments”, Local Energy Scotland would like to support industry to explore opportunities for shared ownership in renewable energy schemes.

A suite of resources is available for community groups at www.localenergyscotland.org/sharedownership and can be highlighted to any relevant communities considering shared ownership opportunities in commercial developments. These resources include a free online toolkit, a start-up grant of up to £20,000 for legal and financial costs, and support from a network of development officers based across Scotland.

Please inform relevant community groups about Local Energy Scotland and the support provided; example text is available to highlight CARES to communities. To find out more about this and how Local Energy Scotland can help you work with communities, please click here.
