The Scottish Government has set a target of 500MW of community owned and locally owned renewable energy capacity operating in Scotland by 2020. The Energy Saving Trust tracks and reports on progress towards the 500MW target.
The key findings from this year’s report are that at the end of June 2014:
- An estimated minimum of 361MW2 of community and locally owned renewable energy capacity was operational in Scotland
- This is a 27% increase on the operational capacity figure in the last report (capacity at June 2013), when the operating capacity was estimated at 285MW.
- The operating capacity results from a total of more than 10,110 individual renewable energy installations.
