Local Energy Challenge Fund Showcase 2017
The first ever Local Energy Challenge Fund Showcase took place on 15th February at the fantastic venue The Academy on Ingram Street in Glasgow. Around 90 delegates attended the busy day. Thank you to the Wheatley Group for hosting us.
The event focused on how the Challenge Fund projects can be part of Scotland’s energy future and how we can overcome the challenges facing the sector to deliver local energy projects.
In the first part of the day we heard a brief overview from seven of the project teams that are currently supported by the Challenge Fund, the Round 2 projects. All presentation slides from the event can be found here.
Lunch time kicked off with an informal opportunity to meet the project teams, ask questions and see some of the innovative equipment and software used in the projects in an exhibition-like set up.
In the afternoon session we were joined by Sue Kearns, Head of Energy Deployment at Scottish Government, outlining the Scottish Government’s perspective on Scotland’s energy future and answering many interesting questions about the Energy Strategy consultation from the audience in the Q&A session.
This was followed by a talk by Jennifer Ramsay, Local Energy Challenge Fund manager, on the successes and lessons learnt from the Local Energy Challenge Fund to date; and brief overviews from the project teams of the Round 1 projects.

Thanks for everyone attending, thank you all for your contributions, comments, questions and discussions.
